Palacio de los Capitanes Generales in Havana

A must see.

This is where the big man in town lived, the Governor.  

Astounding thick-walled Cuban baroque.

In one room on the main level are displayed old chasubles, one a gift of Pope Leo XIII.

Rain or shine, it is terrific to walk amid these enchanting streets.

This stone is corral from the sea.

Bring an umbrella, it can rain here during the winter. 

The Old US Embassy in Havana

It can never be reopened.  Too many grave security threats.  

There is now a mosque located next door which recently opened.

The statue was placed here, welcoming all who arrive in Havana by ship, in 1958.  Before it was sent to Cuba, it was personally blessed by Venerable Pius XII.  His blessing remains.   

By the way, it is total myth Hemingway was a great author.  His stories  have all sorts of sordid themes such as Masonry, booze, atheism and reckless and false male bravado.

I am so happy Castro is not buried in Havana.  He has left this Catholic city forever and never to return.

He was cremated, in the tradition of pagans, and sent back to the southern wilds of the isle from whence his murdering revolution sprang.

This mid-18th-century house was built from 1751-1775.  Magnificent original 18th-century stained glass on the upper-floor windows.  A fine spot for lunch, in the shadow of the mighty Cathedral.
