World's Oldest Bishop Dies at Age 104: Archbishop Peter Leo Gerety

Born in 1912.  One of nine children.

In 1932 he entered the seminary.

Ordained priest in 1939 at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris.   

Consecrated bishop in 1966.

He was a great pro-life warrior.

  1. Pro Life, yes, but he was the one who, in 1978, established "Renew" - whic hhad parishioners meeting in their homes to interpret Scripture passages, etc.- something that brought horror to many a parish in New England. My family spoke of "Return" when the parish priest spoke of "Renew".
