Tomb of St. Louis IX at the Acropolium of Carthage in North Africa

The only canonized king of France.  He participated in the Seventh and Eighth Crusade.

This is his first tomb, located outside Tunis, where he died in 1270.  As you walk through the dust and ruins, you can almost hear Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 in A Major.

His bones were brought back to France.  He was canonized in 1297.

St. Louis, pray for us!
