Sadly, Pius XII tomb cannot be seen any longer by the regular stream of visitors to the crypt of St Peter's as it is no longer on the route for pedestrian travel. The pathway leading to it has been blocked off. I wish this was not the case.
"Out of sight, out of mind" is the reason, no doubt!
Until about 5 years ago they let anybody down here from 7-8 am to pray. Until Cardinal Comastri decided you have to have your name on a list.
