I need help understanding this one. How are crochet and knitting specifically "Catholic Culture" and not just a general aspect of domestic craft.
ReplyDeleteA lost art? Are you kidding? Thanks to the Internet, it's never been easier to learn it. There are social sites devoted to knitting/crochet, more blogs than you can shake a stick at, and you can even teach yourself to knit or crochet from video tutorials on YouTube. The art has never been in LESS danger of being lost!

ReplyDeleteYep, it's thriving where I am! And you don't have to be Catholic, or a lady to do it. Knitting was invented by Fishermen, don'tcha know?!
ReplyDeleteKnitting/crocheting have been in an enormous boom since at least the 80s. In the Waldorf schools, these activities never left. No particular link to Catholicism, though.
