The Vatican was consulted on the design for this statue and it was approved. Once again someone in the Vatican entrusted to making a decision failed the Church. I bet the modernist who approved it said well at least the open space will shelter drunks, and drug addicts and prostitues from being rained on. You know it's true.
Here is a much better statue from the Basilica of Our Lady of Zapopan outside of Guadalajara, MEX. Except that the pigeons often use it as a perch, it is nice.
