Nominated Cardinal of the Holy Roman Church = Velasio DePaolis CS, prefect for the Economic Affairs of the Holy See (& papal delegate to the Legionaries of Christ).
It's amazing how the Orders both of priests and nuns which use either both the Tridentine Latin Mass and a reverent Novus Ordo, or just the Tridentine Latin Mass are growing. The Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate have ordained this year more priests and deacons....than some of the large extablished "Vaican II" Orders have done all year. Likewise, the SSPX has ordained more priest this year (over 20), than some of the larger, established "Vatican II" Orders. Cardinal Bertone's beloved Salesians for example, this year ordained only 7 priests for the whole of Europe....7. Not perhaps the 170+ they did before Vatican II, but only 7. And the Capuchins even less.
Are there one or more particular countries in Africa from which the many African members of the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate originate? Or are they just Italians of African descent? There seem always to be a large number of them in pictures from the FFI's Italian apostolates.
How wonderful and promisinn to see a Cardinal-designate ordaining decons in usus antiquior! DEO GRATIAS
