A bishop should really dress as a bishop, not just a simple cassock with a cross around his neck. Too much humility-simplicity is nauseating. An example is how Paul VI ruined the Papal Court by destroying 500 years of vesture and tradition...and dumbing down the dress code for Vatican priestly employees. Who wants to see a priest strolling across St. Peter's in slacks and a green windbreaker jacket? My friends saw 3 elderly (late 60's early 70's) priests who apparently work in the Vatican strolling across St.Peter's that way. But the youngish priests employees were wearing taylored soutanes or their habits proudly. They noticed young nuns in traditional "1950's" habits strolling happilly (and getting alot of compliments from tourists), and dozens of old (in some cases REALLY OLD), Italian or USA etc. nuns in sloppy short grey or black skirts, neck length veils-or actually in layclothes-wakling Piazza St. Pietro with glum, burnt-out, tired-out faces. So, the moral is, dress up. Be proud of your office (a Bishop like this guy). Don't dress down (even if in a cassock). Be proud of your status. People don't admire humility like that. It's excessive and nauseating. As for religious habits, well the ages of those who do and those who don't speak for themselves.
