Relic of the True Cross at Cortona

For 1,000 years this relic has been kept here.

The old  reliquary, from the Xth century, was brought from Constantinople here to Cortona (near Florence) by the Franciscan, Friar Elias (a friend and follower of St. Francis of Assisi).
