Dies Irae was omi...I think it was a Missa Cantata.

Dies Irae was omitted at Cardinal Spellman funeral (1967).

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3181589320170374720.post-11381972384901511112014-11-25T14:04:28.843-08:002014-11-25T14:04:28.843-08:00That would be the Irish.....in and out short Mass ...That would be the Irish.....in and out short Mass short sermon. A Requiem Missa Cantat...A low Mass? What a shame. A Requiem Missa Cantata would have had the plaintive Sub Venite and Requiem Introit, the chanted Dies Irae for sequence, the Liberasti Me and In Paradisum at the end. What the "Catholic Kennedys" missed for preferring the quick, efficient low Mass, [reportedly, even on Sundays.] Sad.
Now, contrast that with the impressive Extraordinary Form Requiem Mass for the late Philippine President Corazon Aquino just a few years ago. [Search the YouTube] It had an all-male Scola Cantorum doing the Propers and the congregation chanting the Ordinary. It was a most apt send-off for a Catholic head of state, albeit a retired one.Mariehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00003965922434128196noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3181589320170374720.post-8060010927499128502014-11-24T16:39:04.108-08:002014-11-24T16:39:04.108-08:00A black vimp!
