Convents Along Rome Seashore
This seaside villa is owned by the Congregazione delle Ospedaliere dette Sorelle della Misericoria (located at 188 Via Aurelia in resort town of Santa Marinella, northwest of Rome). The sisters have not used this property in years. Would be nice to see some fine new order get their hands on it. Would make a great FSSP HQ. Just a thirty minute drive from Rome's international airport.

The New Papal Tiara
Images courtesy of Dieter Philippi (www.dieter-philippi.de).
The Catholic world at large appreciates the nature, duties and perogatives of the papal office and this appreciation is due chiefly, if not entirely, to the pontifical acts as teacher, ruler and high priest, whose teachings, authority and spiritual ministration have exercised an influence on all humanity, as well as on Catholic subjects.

Pope Receives Tiara From Catholics and Orthodox Today in Audience
At today's weekly general audience the Holy Father received a new tiara made for him and presented by Catholic and Orthodox Christians.
The tiara was commissioned by Dieter Philippi (http://www.dieter-philippi.de/), a German Catholic businessman who has a great devotion to the papacy as well as to the call to Christian unity.
The tiara was created in Sofia, Bulgaria by Orthodox Christians of the Liturgix studio (http://www.liturgix.com/).
Today a small delegation of Roman Catholics and Bulgarian Orthodox on pilgrimage in Rome had the honor to present the tiara to the Holy Father in the name of Christian unity.
Congratulations to Dieter and to all German Catholics and Bulgarian Orthodox involved with this wonderful project.

Treasures From the Preconciliar Papal Liturgy
Photographs of these objects do not exist. People do not even know what they are, let alone what they are called. They were used until circa 1964 in the papal liturgies. These particular objects were used at the Lateran Archbasilica and only just now were brought to the Vatican's Museo Storico (Historical Museum) for display. The employees do not even know how to describe them. The bird cages represent the Holy Spirit. The wine caskets represent the precious blood while the bread on plate represents the Blessed Eucharist. The bread representation is actually hollow and can be lifted off the plate. They were used, I guess, in the rite of episcopal consecrations.
