    aren't the altar cards supposed to be turned face-down on the altar when not used at mass?

    I totally agree! Just looking at my keyboard I see all the dust that collects in ONE DAY!

    I never turn the cards face down at my parish so as to not tarnish the linen.

    That's why one covers the linen with an altar cover.
